How to Play PokéBonk

The keys and formulas below are taken from the official v0.7.10 client. The Chinese walkthrough by CD喜德 is an older UI reference, not a controlled run used to verify the current formulas. Source-derived behavior and observed play results are different evidence; this page supplies the former.

The first ten minutes

Pick a language, pick a starter, and walk into zone 1. Levels offer three cards. Catch with Poké Balls. Beat the zone guardian, clear the sanctuary, and the next zone opens. Classic is built from those zones. I am not going to invent a timer I did not measure.

Default keys

These are the bundle defaults named Jn in our notes. You can rebind every action, including gamepad buttons, since 0.5.7. Mouse middle and side buttons became bindable in 0.6.2.

  • Move: W A S D or the arrow keys. Jump: Space. Dodge: Shift.
  • Interact or pick up: E. Ultimate: R. Lock: right click. Aim: Q.
  • Auto-walk: T (this run only, and walking backward cancels it, per 0.6.2). Map: M. Auto Ultimate: Y.
  • Pause: P. Reroll: F. Skip: X. Banish: Z.

Catching and evolving

The capture chance I read is 0.45 + captureRate/255 × 0.35 + balls already thrown × 0.2. A status ailment adds 0.15. The total caps at 0.95. A Master Ball hits. I have not re-derived that from a live catch, so I am quoting the function, not a personal sample of throws.

The generic runEvolution rule uses the target evoLevel, or falls back to 20 when the previous species has evoStage 0 and 34 otherwise. If the target has a further filtered evolution, the threshold is clamp(16, 30, round(8 + level)); otherwise it is clamp(36, 50, round(22 + 0.6 × level)). For the three Kanto starters this gives 24, then 41 for Venusaur and 44 for Charizard or Blastoise.

planEvolution applies League-specific evoLevel/evoLevels overrides before using the generic result. Eevee explicitly offers Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon at run level 36. A source use-item or trade trigger without evoLevel therefore does not prove a chest-stone or trading requirement in PokéBonk. Species pages show the applicable calculation and label these thresholds as code-derived, not observed evolution logs.

No. inviteOnly was false in the status snapshot checked on 21 October 2026. Guest accounts are deleted after 60 consecutive days without use.
