Gengar in PokéBonk

Gengar has 130 Special Attack, Speed 110 and BST 500. The source file retains Ghost/Poison and a trade evolution trigger with no numeric level. The run fallback derives the final threshold from Haunter’s stage rather than requiring a main-series trade.

Evolution: file metadata versus the run

From Haunter, the source evoLevel is null. The client fallback uses 34 because the previous record has evoStage 1. Because the target is terminal in the Kanto filter, compute clamp(36, 50, round(22 + 0.6 × level)). The result is run level 42. League-specific overrides take priority; this is code-derived, not a recorded clear.

Data-led choices, not a tested build

Keep the custom phantom passive separate from the imported ability names in pokemon.json. Source learnset options are not automatically available as in-run cards. The Ghost-focused League kit can be compared with other kits for type coverage, but that calculation omits cooldown, area and status interactions.

How to read the source data

The stat block and full source learnset below come from the game’s public JSON. Learnset levels and source move power are dex metadata, not guaranteed in-run unlock levels or final damage. The official roster kit and passive are taken separately from the client bundle. No controlled-run sample or measured build performance is claimed.

Build planning from the official kit

The Gastly League line uses Lick, Night Shade, Shadow Ball, Hex. Its passive key is phantom. This is the curated kit, not a promise that every source-learnset move appears in a run.

Type-only defensive weaknesses: Ground 1.35×; Ghost 1.35×; Psychic 1.35×; Dark 1.35×. These are calculated before abilities, armor, items and the incoming-damage clamp. Use the matchup calculator for a particular enemy; use the Lab calculator to budget permanent upgrades. This is untested build planning, not a claimed clear or measured DPS build.

Frequently asked questions

Is Gengar a separate League starter?

No. It is an evolution of a listed League starting member, not an additional starting slot in the 79-member roster.

Are these the stats shown during a run?

No. These are the source dex stats. The client derives combat values and applies passives, evolution scaling, items and Lab upgrades separately.
